From the legendary closed Trinidad distillery, a rum with an extra touch of complexity.
Although very traditional in its tarry and heavily tannic flavour, the result of its first accelerated years of oak aging in a tropical climate, they have let it soften a bit in an ex-sherry cask. The result is still dark and quite extreme, with those classic notes of black licorice, anise and coffee, but with an intriguing and luscious extra layer of juicy fruitiness, pastry biscuits and raisins.
In spite of this dark austerity, this release has an unusual juicy character too, thanks to the final maturation in second fill Oloroso Sherry wood, which add an extra layer of winey complexity, richness and finesse.
