The Glenmorangie distillery renews its The Quinta Ruban whisky with a new expression embellished by two extra years of ageing.
Silver medal in the Highlands Scotch Single Malt between 13 and 20 years of age category, World Whiskies Awards 2021.
The Quinta Ruban pays homage to the "quintas", the famous Port Houses of Portugal. This Single Malt has been aged for 12 years in American white oak casks containing Bourbon and for 2 years in Ruby Port casks. Ruby means 'ribbon' in Gaelic.
This maturation makes Quinta Ruban the most amber and intense whisky in the range. Rich and velvety, this malt expresses impressive sweetness and aromatic complexity.
The additional two years of maturation broaden the aromatic palette of this Single Malt, with its pronounced notes of Seville orange and dark chocolate. The Quinta Ruban possesses typical Glenmorangie complexity interpreted with clarity and confidence.
Colour: a brilliant rose gold.
Nose: A fruity, floral and aromatic nose with a hint of incense and a pleasant tangy orange fragrance. Then there are aromas of candied fruit cake and musk. Then a few waxy notes, a hint of sandalwood and a light accent of dark chocolate. A dash of water opens up the bouquet further, revealing notes of chocolate truffles, coconut, marshmallow and delicious Turkish pastries with mint, candied oranges and honeyed sweetness that seduce you, along with a subtle touch of oak.
Palate: a voluptuous, velvety texture with notes of rich dark chocolate truffles, fruit candy, sweet mandarin and walnuts. Deeper flavours of candied orange complement the crunch of chocolate and freshness of mint.
Finish: a long, lingering finish with dominant notes of dark chocolate, fresh mint and orange, finishing on a hint of tobacco.
